Hobsons Bay City Council

In August of 2018, Macutex was engaged to carry out inspections of 215 buildings across Hobsons Bay City Council. The buildings included community centres, leisure centres, libraries, kindergartens, childcare centres, sports pavilions and public bathrooms.

Macutex used Council’s Asset Management System to capture physical inspections of all listed buildings and structures and assessed the condition, defects and useful life of the buildings and its elements.

The data collected provided Council with information on maintenance works required, costings and a comprehensive understanding of the buildings to ensure they maintain fit-for-purpose requirements for the next ten years.

In addition to the building condition audits, Macutex provided Council with the following:

• 10-year Capital Renewal plan for all buildings
• 10-year Maintenance plan for all buildings
• 10-year Capital Renewal plan for Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical asset data

The project was successfully delivered in January 2019 and assisted Hobsons Bay City Council in ensuring reduced deterioration and failure of key building elements, as well as providing whole-of-life cost estimates and refurbishment timelines.
